Success requires smarts, hard work, patience and a bit of luck.

Luck plays a huge role in determining the outcome of your efforts. And while you can't control luck, you can certainly expand your "luck surface area" to increase your chances of success.

Expanding your luck surface area simply means increasing the number of opportunities that come your way. The more opportunities you have, the greater the chance of success. But how do you expand your luck surface area? Here are a few tips that might help:

1.       Hang out with successful people: One of the easiest ways to expand your luck surface area is to spend time with successful people. The theory suggests that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. So, surround yourself with people who think big, challenge you, and inspire you. Their success can rub off on you, and they can introduce you to other successful people who can help you on your journey.

2.       Be open to meeting new people: You never know where a relationship will take you. So, be open to meeting new people and forming new connections. Even if you think someone may not be able to help you, you never know what you might learn from them. Be curious and ask questions. One of the best habits to develop is to always ask yourself, "what can I learn from this person?"

3.       Learn from successful people in different industries: It's not just important to spend time with successful people in your industry, but also with those in different industries. Learning from people who are successful in other fields can help you gain a different perspective and new insights that you might not have considered before.

4.       Take chances: As the saying goes, "if you don't take a chance, you don't get a chance." Be open to taking risks and trying new things. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. The more chances you take, the more opportunities you create for yourself.

Essentially, expanding your luck surface area is about creating opportunities for yourself. Surround yourself with successful people, be open to meeting new people, and learn from those in different industries. Don't be afraid to take chances and try new things.

Remember, luck plays a huge role in success, but it's up to you to create the opportunities that can lead to it.
